Altarpiece, No. 1

A visionary abstract piece brought to life as a museum-quality fine-art print or gallery canvas.

Altarpiece, No. 1 by Hilma af Klint — archival fine-art print from Fable

Emerging from a deep black background, a monumental pyramid ascends toward a radiant golden orb. The composition is strikingly symmetrical, anchored by a large central sphere textured in gold tones and framed by radiating green, yellow, and blue points of light. Below it, the imposing triangular structure climbs upward to a dark apex. A spine of overlapping circular motifs containing delicate starburst patterns runs directly up the center, dividing the ascending form.

The color story is a study in contrast and balance. The left side of the pyramid builds upward in warm tones of deep red, terracotta, and soft pink, while the right side answers with a cool progression of dark indigo, cerulean, and pale lavender. Set against the void of the dark canvas, these geometric fields and the golden crown project an atmosphere of profound stillness and gravity.

This commanding vertical piece acts as a strong focal point in contemporary interiors. Its bold geometry makes it an ideal statement piece above a mid-century console, centering a minimalist living room, or bringing meditative focus to a bedroom. Whether chosen as an expansive gallery canvas or a framed fine-art print, its clean lines anchor a modern wall art collection effortlessly.

Painted in 1915 by the Swedish pioneer Hilma af Klint, this work remains a defining early example of abstract art. Each piece is reproduced as a physical archival fine-art print or canvas, crafted on matte museum-grade paper using archival pigment inks to preserve the intensity of the original hues. Every print is made to order, meticulously prepared for print by Surrealium at Vaxholm Fortress, Sweden.
