The Lion's Counsel

A vibrant scene of courtly counsel from a 16th-century Indian epic, recreated as an archival fine-art print or gallery canvas.

The Lion's Counsel — archival fine-art print from Fable

In a detailed architectural setting, a regal lion sits enthroned, holding court with a wolf and a cat. The composition is theatrical, drawing the eye to the central discussion between the animal figures, each rendered with personality and a sense of narrative suspense in a rich, pattern-filled scene.

The palette is dominated by rich jewel tones, lapis blue, crimson red, and intricate gold detailing, set against a tranquil green courtyard. This vibrant color story creates a world that is both opulent and enchanting, bringing a sense of history and classic storytelling to any room.

As a fine-art print, this work adds worldly sophistication to a living room, study, or hallway. Its classic composition and rich colors make it a compelling focal point above a console or as a centerpiece in a gallery wall, fitting well within classic, eclectic, or vintage-inspired interiors.

This work is a recreation of a folio from a 16th-century Mughal-era manuscript of the Tuti-nama, or Tales of a Parrot. While the original artist is unknown, the piece is a brilliant example of the Mughal school of miniature painting. Restored and certified by the Surrealium atelier at Kastellet, a 17th-century sea fortress in the Stockholm archipelago, each piece is made to order on matte, museum-grade paper using archival pigment inks for lasting color and detail.
