Ormond

A neoclassical portrait engraving of quiet dignity. Museum-quality fine art print or gallery canvas for classic and modern

Ormond by Francesco Bartolozzi (Italian, 1727-1815)
after Hans Holbein the younger — archival fine-art print from Fable

This neoclassical portrait captures its subject in a stark, noble profile. The composition is focused and intimate, with precise, delicate linework defining the features and attire. Rendered with the exacting clarity of late 18th-century engraving, the work relies on subtle cross-hatching and contour to create a sense of form and texture, drawing the eye to the sitter's calm and dignified expression.

The monochromatic palette creates a serene, scholarly atmosphere. The contrast between the deep ink and the warm paper ground gives the piece a graphic power that feels both historic and timeless. In a room, it contributes a sense of quiet contemplation and intellectual gravity, adding character without overwhelming the space.

As a fine-art print, this portrait is perfectly suited for a study, library, or living room. It works beautifully as a standalone piece above a console or desk, or as part of a larger gallery wall arrangement paired with architectural drawings, maps, or modern abstracts. Its classic sensibility complements traditional, vintage, and minimalist interiors alike.

Originally engraved in 1797 by the Italian artist Francesco Bartolozzi, this work translates a portrait from the circle of Hans Holbein the Younger into the Neoclassical style. Each piece is made to order in our studio as an archival print on museum-grade matte paper, using pigment inks rated to last for generations. This edition is restored and certified by the Surrealium atelier at Kastellet, a 17th-century sea fortress in the Stockholm archipelago.
