Atelier Editions
A contemporary Surrealium colour interpretation, not a claim to recover the artist's intended colours.
Artist: Albrecht Dürer
Museum original and attributionAlbrecht Dürer's Knight, Death, and the Devil of 1513 is one of the great master engravings of the Northern Renaissance. The original work, a monochrome marvel of detail, depicts a Christian knight in full armor riding steadfastly through a dark gorge. He is flanked by two grim companions: Death holding an hourglass on a pale horse, and a grotesque, horned Devil lurking behind. The work is a powerful allegory of faith and resolve in the face of mortality and temptation.
This Atelier Edition is a contemporary color interpretation by Surrealium, digitally rendered to explore the composition through a new lens. Where Dürer’s original relied on intricate line work, our edition introduces a palette of mineral blue, muted green, and warm earth tones against an ivory ground. This new coloring accentuates the precise modeling of the figures and landscape, offering a fresh perspective on the historic masterpiece. This version is an exclusive creation of the Surrealium atelier.
This fine-art print is available to all collectors without a subscription. For Fable members, our studio offers the ability to further customize the palette and composition of this edition. Each piece is prepared to order as an archival fine-art print on museum-grade matte paper or as a gallery-wrapped canvas, ready to hang.
