Arnold Böcklin painted Mountain Castle with a Procession of Knights (Bergschloss mit Kriegerzug) in 1871. A red-clad procession follows a sloping path toward a mountain castle, with cypresses and a ruined temple in the landscape. The original oil painting is held at the Aargauer Kunsthaus on permanent loan from the Gottfried Keller-Stiftung.
