Presence or Baroque Red? Compare two current pet portrait styles
A close portrait and a more formal scene: compare the actual catalog examples, then decide what suits your pet.
Presence and Baroque Red are both current styles in Fable's pet collection. Their public examples take different approaches to presenting the animal. The useful question is which treatment you would like to explore with your own photograph.
The examples below were checked on 1 October 2026. They show different dogs. They are not a same-photo experiment, a before-and-after pair or evidence that one style preserves likeness better than the other.
Presence: a close composition

In this current Presence example, the dog's head and upper body fill most of the picture. Upright ears and the face stand out against a dark, textured background. The coat remains visible without a cape or other historical clothing in the example.
The current style description also identifies Presence as a close head-and-shoulders treatment. Consider it if you want to begin with a composition that keeps your attention near the face. That is a visual preference, not a promise that every result will match this example exactly.
Baroque Red: a more formal presentation

The current Baroque Red example shows more of the dog's body. The dog sits on a cushion, with a burgundy cape, pale trim and a chain across the chest. Those elements give the setting and clothing a larger role in the picture than in the Presence example.
Consider this style if you enjoy that formal presentation. Look at the full example before deciding: you are choosing a treatment that includes more than a close view of the face. The animal's own features still deserve your attention when you review your preview.
Compare the choices, not just the names
| What you want to explore | A starting point | | --- | --- | | A close portrait with attention on the head and shoulders | Presence | | A seated presentation with a cape and cushion in the current example | Baroque Red | | Minimal historical clothing in the example | Presence | | Clothing and setting as part of the portrait's character | Baroque Red |
These are editorial starting points based on the pictured examples. There is no overall winner. Think about the person who will live with the portrait and what they enjoy seeing on a wall.
Check your own preview before choosing a format
Start with a photograph where the face and important markings are clear. In your preview, compare eyes, muzzle, ears and coat markings with that reference. Then consider the framing, background and clothing as separate artistic choices.
Fable produces digitally rendered portrait artwork and offers a preview before purchase. Check current pricing and print options when you are ready to choose a format. For help selecting the reference, use the photo-selection guide.
