A sleeper lies across a bed, an incubus crouches above her, and a horse peers through the curtain. The source for this edition is Laurede’s 1782 engraving after Henry Fuseli, catalogued by The Metropolitan Museum of Art as The Night Mare.

The Surrealium atelier’s interpretation uses indigo drapery, warm ivory fabric and vivid vermilion accents to give the engraved scene a new colour presence. It was made with Flux and reviewed against this particular museum source. It is a contemporary interpretation, not a reconstruction of Fuseli’s intended palette.

The original engraving stays beside the edition for comparison. Order the colour edition as a fine-art print or canvas without a subscription; active subscribers can also explore a personal variation.
