Three hooded figures lean into the same charged gesture, their profiles and pointing hands echoing one another. The source is John Raphael Smith’s mezzotint of March 10, 1785, after Henry Fuseli, in The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Surrealium’s edition interprets the image in deep violet, warm ivory and vermilion. The colour heightens the theatrical mood of the Macbeth subject while the complete museum plate remains available for comparison. Created with Flux and reviewed at the atelier, it is a contemporary interpretation rather than a claim to recover historic colours.
