Atelier Editions
A contemporary Surrealium colour interpretation, not a claim to recover the artist's intended colours.
artist: Martin Schongauer (German, c. 1450–1491)
Museum original and attributionThis Atelier Edition presents a new, full-color interpretation of "The Griffin," a celebrated 15th-century engraving by the German master printmaker Martin Schongauer. The original, a masterpiece of line and form from the Northern Renaissance, is rendered here in a contemporary palette. Developed by Surrealium, this digital interpretation imagines the mythical creature in luminous mineral blue, muted gold, and warm rose tones, bringing a new dimension to Schongauer's intricate work.
An exclusive edition from our studio, this work places the original monochrome engraving alongside a modern color study. As a fine-art print or gallery canvas, it suits classic and modern interiors alike, adding a point of interest to a living room, study, or gallery wall. This archival print is available for purchase by all art lovers, with no membership required. Fable subscribers have the additional ability to further customize the piece.
Each print is made to order on heavyweight, archival matte paper using pigment inks rated to last for generations. The work is prepared for print by the Surrealium atelier at Kastellet, a 17th-century sea fortress in the Stockholm archipelago, ensuring a faithful reproduction of our studio's unique color composition.
