Realtor logos: keys, oaks and towers
Three old symbols that say home better than a roofline, how to draw a crest for a real estate agency, and what to keep out of the logo.
Every agent has a roof
Search for real estate logos and you will see the same drawing a thousand times: a roof, a chimney, perhaps a swoosh. It says property, but it does not say you. A buyer handed four business cards at an open house remembers the one that looked different. Heraldry offers a richer set of symbols that have meant home, roots and safe keeping for centuries.
The key
Illustrative scene made from a real Fable design; not a photograph of a delivered order.

A key is the moment every client is waiting for. Ashdown Estates carry a red key on a gold chevron beneath three silver oaks, and the same arms sit on their letterhead and on a Welcome home card left on the kitchen island. A key drawn with an old-fashioned bow and wards looks far better than a modern flat key.
The oak

A design made with Fable Heraldry: a decorative emblem, not a grant of arms.
An oak says roots, shelter and a family that stays. Three oaks on a blue shield, as here, read clearly even at business-card size. If your agency sells in a particular valley or town, a tree native to it gives the emblem a local accent.
The tower
A tower or a castle means a strong house. It suits an agency in an old town, or one that specialises in historic homes. Keep it simple, a single tower with a gate, so it does not turn into a picture of a building.
What to keep out of the logo
Keep marks you do not own out of your emblem. REALTOR® is a registered membership mark of the National Association of REALTORS®, and its rules govern how members may use it, so it belongs in your text where those rules allow, not inside the crest. Brokerage names and franchise marks follow their own brand rules too. Your crest should be yours alone.
Try yours
Fable draws a crest from your agency’s name, its story and the symbol you suggest. The preview is free. The Business pack gives you commercial use in writing, brand files for the web and the realtor stationery collection: letterhead, business cards, listing cards, contracts, invoices, invitations, appointment cards and thank-you cards for every buyer. A Fable crest is a decorative emblem, not a grant of arms.
